WHAT IS PRODUCT REGISTRATION
Product registration is a mandatory requirement in Dubai, UAE, aimed at streamlining the importation, manufacturing, and promotion of all products. The competent authority responsible for overseeing this process in each emirate is the respective Municipality.
Importers and local manufacturers are obliged to register their products with the relevant Municipality. The product registration process in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can vary depending on the type of
product and the regulatory authority overseeing its registration. Here is a general outline of the process:

UAE IMPORT-EXPORT CODE (IEC) Registration
To engage in importing or exporting activities in the UAE, individuals and companies must obtain an
Import-Export Code (IEC) issued by the respective customs department. This code is necessary for
importing goods from foreign countries, exporting goods produced within the UAE, or re-exporting
previously imported goods.
Import export code will be valid for one year from the date of registration. The business code will be
suspended, if it is not renewed within 60 days from its expiry date.
The UAE consists of seven custom departments, each associated with an emirate: Abu Dhabi Customs
Department, Dubai Customs Department, Sharjah Customs Department, Ajman Customs Department,
Umm Al Quwain Customs Department, Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Customs Department, and Fujairah
Customs Department.
